Ellipses Anniversary: The 150th anniversary special edition Style dictates that a watch brimming with gems from the hands of the finest craftspeople should be powered by a mechanism that does the maison that signed the dial proud. This obdurate penchant for perfection will necessarily sublimate – even more absolutely so – the women who choose to wear a gem so consummate that its wealth reaches way beneath the surface. Celebrating a 150-year-long tradition of intensely creative endeavour prompted Boucheron to reinvigorate its fine watch-making flair and elevate it beyond time and on to eternity. These new stylish and graceful, round and square creations are available in white gold or rose gold, in strictly limited editions. Their single passion and only aim is perfection. Their originality-steeped outer beauty conceals the best that watch-making art has to offer: an entirely hand-made atelier calibre. The first thing that catches the eye is probably the sheer visual power that radiates from the elliptical setting, harnessing the evocative wealth that the range of blues or shades of yellow and orange unleash. These rare gems are all different sizes and set to create visual volume alongside the purest diamonds. The real talent of this maison’s master jewellers is in the harmony that their artful stone-setting elicits. The design invariably changes from one series to the next. The galaxy of precious coloured stones magically rises above the law of gravitation. Springing from the golden dial in the middle of the case, this coloured nebula is reflected in the pumiced shagreen straps that capture the slightest trace of light. These watches stir time with impulse – the visible sign of an inner desire to advance. In keeping with Voltaire’s contention that the sky is the see of the Watchmaker of the Universe, Boucheron found it fitting to unveil what human talent has enabled it to tender nestled a golden crib. The oval window opening into the back unveils a few of the atelier-made GP 4000 calibre’s completely restyled components including the mark of the maker, the first maison to open on Place Vendôme.
