The brushed upper surface of the bezel features the Romvlvs signature feature in the shape of its XII Roman numerals. To achieve this result, CORUM has taken the aesthetic sophistication to a new level by using the stamping technique: 52 separate stamping operations were required to make the bezel look the way it does!

Sophisticated wave form

It all depends on your point of view! Just like with the sea. A plunging view makes its rounded curves look flat and calm with a gently rounded appearance, whereas admiring it from a slightly different position gives you the impression that the bezel is gently shifting as the eye follows its curved profile. This effect was achieved by delicate and complex machining that does more than just achieve a new aesthetic – since this new shape merges seamlessly into the case that is specifically designed to make a perfect fit on the wrist and ensure peerless wearer comfort.

The naturally glareproofed sapphire crystal is slightly domed on the outside – a distinctive shape that meant the master-watchmakers had to create ad hoc tools for driving the crystal into the bezel. This assembly process is patiently performed by hand and part by part.
The main dial – black for the red gold model and grey for the white gold model – is adorned with a sunburst guilloché motif. The minutes appear discreetly but legibly on a dedicated inner ring. The three-sided hands feature a sapphire-blasted central part and polished edges. The dual time-zone subdial at 12 o’clock features a slightly snailed (azuré) motif and applied hour-markers, while a smaller subdial at 6 o’clock displays the seconds – since even on its dual-time model, Corum considers this level of accuracy a must. Meanwhile, through a dedicated applied gold aperture at 3 o’clock, the date stands out in white against a black background.

Water resistance to 30 metres is ensured by the o-ring joints inserted into the dedicated grooves machined in the case and its back. The latter, secured with 6 screws, has been crafted in sapphire crystal to highlight the heart of the watch: a CORUM-personalized Frédéric Piguet movement with guilloché “Côtes de Genève” motif. Beating at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per minute and endowed with a 72-hour power reserve, this twin-barreled caliber with integrated dual time-zone display is a benchmark in its field. The case-back of each watch is engraved with the inscription Corum – Romvlvs – Water resistant 3 Atm, along with the series number.

Elegant simplicity

The time zones and date are operated via a two-position crown. Notched and struck with the Corum key logo, the latter is generously sized to facilitate winding and proves a useful additional asset.

This new model comes with a choice of gold bracelet or black crocodile leather strap. The bracelet is composed of alternating brilliant and satin-brushed polished links, complete with a triple folding clasp featuring mechanical double pushbutton opening and distinguished by blades created specifically for the Romvlvs model. The strap with its perfectly square scales is secured with a red or white gold pin buckle, also custom-made for this “royal” watch!
Carrying vibrant echoes of a timeless historical legend, the Romvlvs continues to evolve in step with the times so as to remain in perfect harmony with the grandeur of its era.
